The Martin: A Premiere Venue
The Martin Event Space is one of my favorite places to capture a wedding day! Not only is the staff one-of-a-kind, they truly acknowledge an acute attention to detail and help their couples throughout the planning process. It is a historical space in Martin City, MO. and features TONS of recently renovated additions; I was actually had my first tour with the owner, Rachel, while they were in the late stages of renovating and was able to recommend white paint for the bridal suite. I think itβs so cool that they brought in vendors as a collaboration to make sure their updates aligned with what couples wanted to see! Itβs clear that theyβve done their research to be one of KCβs rising star venues.
Venue Features
The most underrated feature of The Martin is their in-house chef, Eric. You do NOT need an outside caterer when youβre at The Martin. You can if you want, but youβll be missing out on an amazing culinary experience. Plus, the simplicity of having your venue and caterer wrapped into one is so convenient! They have dinner service down to a science and itβs quite frankly a game changer when it comes to your reception based on other venues who have outside caterers. But thatβs just little ole me!
Some other great features at The Martin include:
- A boxwood photo wall with several neon sign options
- Accessible main entrance / accessible stage
- Indoor and Outdoor Ceremony space
- In-house chef
- Great bartending team
- Day of Coordination
- A decor room
- A LARGE dance floor
- Several table styles
- Linens (black, white, ivory)
- 2 large getting ready suites
Nearby Photography Locations
For golden hour and wedding party portraits, you may be wondering, βWell, where do we take our photos?β The one drawback to this location is that thereβs not an abundance of space for exterior photos if you are looking for anything that isnβt city/urban. That being said, most couples who are falling in love with this venue are partial to an urban setting, and they do have a great courtyard backdrop for portraits and ceremony. However, if thatβs not quite your vision, or you want to have a little more diversity in your gallery, there are options! I wonβt give away all of my secrets in this post, but as long as you plan a little commuting time into your schedule, thereβs always somewhere new we can go off-site for portraits.
When planning this, itβs good to know WHO you want at said portraits and HOW are they getting there. For example, if weβre taking the entire wedding party off-site, the absolute best way to keep everyone together and on time is with a party bus (wedding parties with more than 3-4 people on each side). If you and your honey just want to pop away for a few coupleβs portraits, itβs super easy to just hop in with me and we pop over to a quick photo spot! I bet you didnβt know your soon-to-be-photographer is also a chauffeur! Alternatively, I also have couples who prefer to get the bulk of their photo list done at their church ceremony space (peep the vow reading photo at the top of this article). The options are truly limitless, because itβs your day and you can do whatever you want!
Checking Every Box
If youβve stumbled across The Martin and want a final, professional opinion, all I can say is you are in fantastic hands. The owners are so hands on, kind, and a joy to work with. They put so much love and care into their facility and it shows at every event. Not to mention the rest of the staff! Everyone is very knowledgeable about the space and are support superheroes on your big day. The venue is an unmatched space for couples with a 150 guest count or less. With so many features included or have the ability to be added on, itβs like a little slice of planning heaven.
